• PickleballJeff

    Founder and Educator Trainer

  • Pickleball is Easy to Learn, Fun to Play

    Introduction

The Asian Pickleball Academy (APA) was founded in 2022 by PickleballJeff, an experienced national and international pickleball educator and trainer.

APA's focus is on developing recreational pickleball and pickleball tourism throughout Asia, provided by passionate national and international pickleball educators for players in the region.

As of February 2025 any IEPP or APA programs will be refered to as IEPP/APA programs with a new IEPP/APA combined logo.

PickleballJeff is now settled in Indonesia aiming to launch virtual pickleball educator courses soon.

    Our Mission

We offer affordable pickleball training programs and skill clinics to support inclusive recreational pickleball communities in Asia. The goal is to make pickleball more accessible and fun for everyone.

Our Achievements lead to a focused future

In April 2019, PickleballJeff (PbJ) re-introduced the sport of pickleball to Indonesia. Shortly after his second visit there in November 2019 the Borneo Pickleball organization was established in January 2020. Since then, the game has experienced rapid growth across many parts of the country. In 2021-2022, the first 24 pickleball educators from Padang, East Kalimantan, and Bali successfully completed their training and became certified pickleball teachers in Indonesia. Shortly after, in February 2022, Borneo Pickleball split into two separate entities - the Asia Pickleball Academy (APA) and Indonesian Pickleball Community (IndoPiCo).

To date, they have introduced well over 2,000 individuals to pickleball through taster sessions, clinics, and courses. Given the geographic challenges in Asia, there is a clear need for more affordable pickleball educator training programs to support the rapid growth and development of the sport in the region.

As an independent entity, the APA aims to connect with community members passionate about pickleball. Drawing on years of experience, we have adopted the IEPP/APA curriculum to create a student-centric program.

To date, we have already successfully certified 30 Indonesian nationals as IEPP/APA pickleball teachers.

    January 2025

Now that I am living in Indonesia, I have decided to focus exclusively on recreational pickleball in Asia. I continue to run training sessions, as well as Ambassador, Educators, and Educator Trainer courses, using the IEPP course structure. As of 10 January 2025 we are an established Limited company in Indonesia licenced to operate under the umbrella of PT TTGG. This strategic shift will also be reflected in the updated logo for the Asia Pickleball Academy, aligning it with this new regional focus. The IEPP website will be discontinued in March 2025

"Three brands, One goal: Elevate your pickleball game".

To emphasize the collaboration between the three brands—IEPP, APA, and PickleballJeff (PbJ)—a new combined logo will be featured on all course materials. This logo highlights the synergy between the brands, while each retains its unique tagline:

IEPP: "Shaping the grassroots of the pickleball world."

APA: "Pickleball is Easy to Learn and Fun to Play."

    PbJ: "Just Play Pickleball."

Together, these brands share a unified message:

"Three brands, One goal: Elevate your pickleball game."

The IEPP/APA is introducing affordable pickleball educator training courses which makes pickleball:

"Easy to Teach and Fun to Teach".

Here you will find information about IEPP, now refered to as IEPP/APA to create clarity. As I am now based in Indonesia, I will therefore be focused on the Asia Pickleball Academy but the IEPP programs are still open for all players from other continents.

  • IEPP/APA concept

As pickleball's popularity surges globally, the sport faces a critical challenge - the lack of consistent instruction for new players.

This inconsistency in how pickleball is introduced and developed across the world threatens the sport's impactful growth.

We would like to introduce you to the IEPP/APA concept:

    · Focused on recreational pickleball in Asia.

    · Consistency of delivering the foundations of pickleball, with a focus on the fundamentals and skills.

    · Affordability and accessibility of its workshops and certification courses.

    What Are We Looking For?

    • Experienced Pickleball Instructors and Coaches
We welcome established pickleball teachers, instructors, and coaches who are passionate about supporting the global growth of the sport. A comprehensive crossover induction program ensures seamless alignment with IEPP/APA's standards and training programs.
    • Dedicated Local Individuals
If you’re passionate about helping others and enjoy making a difference in your community, we’ll support your journey to becoming an IEPP/APA pickleball ambassador or educator. Share your love for the sport while fostering its growth in your local community.
    • National Pickleball Organizations (NPOs)
We invite NPOs to partner with IEPP/APA to grow their pickleball communities without the need to create training programs from the ground up. By affiliating with IEPP/APA, organizations gain access to our proven resources and expertise for an affordable annual fee.
  • Shaping the grassroots of the pickleball world!

Pickleball is a ageless, grassroots sport, rooted in a universal foundation of skills, strategy, and rules that unite players of all levels. At IEPP/APA, we understand that most players are recreational—playing for fun but also eager to improve. That’s why our focus is on teaching the fundamentals in a way that’s both engaging and enjoyable.

By giving new players a solid grounding in the basics, we aim to cultivate talented athletes within pickleball communities in Asia. Over time, these players will be ready to train and compete on the international stage.

We want all pickleball players globaly to passionately enjoy the sport.

    When someone asks "What is pickleball?", the simple answer is;

"it is easy to learn and fun to play".

    broken image

As an organization, we believe it's essential for our pickleball educators to genuinely enjoy helping others develop their skills. With an IEPP/APA certification, our pickleball educators can confidently showcase that the game is both easy and fun to teach,

    IEPP Training Cycle Process (TCP)

The TCP equips pickleball educators to deliver personalized, step-by-step instruction to individual students, whether in group sessions or one-on-one training. This comprehensive program offers a progressive curriculum that takes students from mastering fundamental skills to advanced techniques, strategies, and tactics. By providing a structured and continuous learning experience, the TCP ensures every training session is clear, engaging, and enjoyable for both students and educators.

According to Mike Johnson, the President of the Philippine Pickleball Federation, pickleball is rapidly gaining popularity in the Philippines. New pickleball groups and clubs (143 to date and counting) are springing up across the country, with the sport even being played in shopping malls. Expatriates traveling to the Philippines or other parts of Asia can now pack their paddles and join in the pickleball craze. Earlier this year, the Philippine Olympic Committee officially adopted pickleball, making the Philippines the first nation to receive national Olympic recognition for the sport.
