    International Experience

    The APA is formed by experienced national and international pickleball educators, we exposed pickleball to well over 2000+ persons from 2019-2022 and certified 24 Indonesian nationals with the IFP pickleball TEACHER certification in 2021/2022.

    Our focus is on recreational pickleball and pickleball tourism development in Asia provided by passionate national and international pickleball educators for all pickleball players in Asia.

    Development through Pay it Back (PiB) concept. (PENDING AT THIS MOMENT)

    It's the APA’s intention to support the development of pickleball in Asia by providing independent, inclusive, accessible and affordable pickleball development courses utilising the Pay it Back concept.

    The PiB concept works as follows, funds received from all development courses will be divided to the pickleball EDUCATOR delivering the course, the pickleball host community and the APA. So the EDUCATOR gets paid fairly, the pickleball host community receives funding which must go towards the development of the pickleball community (not for personal benefit) and a set amount goes back to the APA to ensure their costs are covered and to continue the development of new courses or other programs.

    Our Achievements lead to a focused future

    Pickleball was introduced in Indonesia in April 2019 and Borneo Pickleball was formed shortly after in January 2020, since then we have seen rapid growth of pickleball in many places. In 2021-2022 the first 24 pickleball EDUCATORS from Padang, Tenggarong, Penajam, Balikpapan and Bali successfully completed their course and became CERTIFIED pickleball TEACHERS in Indonesia.

     

    Having used the IFP curriculum last time around these 24 passionate players became pickleball TEACHERS under the guidance and instruction of PickleballJeff facilitated by Borneo Pickleball. To date we have exposed well over 2000 individuals to pickleball in the form of taster sessions, clinics and courses. It became evident due to the geographic challenges in Asia there is a desperate need for more affordable pickleball EDUCATOR courses to continue to support the rapid growth and development of pickleball in Asia.

    APA has now adopted its courses to International Educational Pickleball Programs (IEPP)

     

    APA has decided to become an independent entity from Borneo Pickleball Academy, so Asia Pickleball Academy (APA) was formed. Using the experience gained from over the last few years, we are now using IEPP for our courses which is focused on; in person-on court training, bilingual training material and on-court teaching, this keeps classroom sessions to a minimum, the use of the practical experience application makes this is a complete student focused curriculum. To date we have certified 30 Indonesian nationals successfully completing the APA/IEPP pickleball teacher course.

    On Tuesday 21 February, 2023 David Goertzen became an APA pickleball Ambassador. David is a very passionate pickleball player and has many years of experience in sports coaching and in the education system, David spend half his time in his Native Canada in the summer months and like to spend the winter months in Hua Hin, Thailand.

    On Saturday 28 January, 2023 Pak Alit succesfully completed the requirements of the APA pickleball INSTRUCTOR IL3 course. Pak Alit is living with his wife and 4 children in Klungkung, Bali he is very well respected in the pickleball community and he is always prepared to give a supportive hand.

    6 New APA pickleball Teachers completed successfully their training on Sunday 24 September 2023 joined by the president of the German pickleball federation Andrea Kopkau who completed his cross over to IEPP

  • What We Do

    We aim to provide independent, affordable and inclusive pickleball development courses (some courses bilingual if required) to create recreational pickleball EDUCATORS using International Educational Pickleball Programs (www.iepp.world) and promote pickleball tourism through the introduction of pickleball camps and events in Asia provided by passionate pickleball educators for all pickleball players in Asia.

    International Pickleball Educator

    This program is especially for International Pickleball Educators that plan to visit Asian countries to play or teach pickleball and would like to contribute their skills and knowledge to help the development of pickleball in Asia.

    APA AMBASSADOR (IL1)

    This workshop is designed for pickleball community leaders, here they learn how to introduce the pickleball basics to new players. It is easy, fun and simple, Helping new players to play within one hour.

    pickleball TEACHER (IL2)

    This is the most comprehensive pickleball development course as it covers the pickleball foundations, basic skills, framework and instructional guidance. Designed for individuals looking for a pickleball TEACHER certification at a global standard.

    pickleball INSTRUCTOR (IL3)

    This course provides the framework and instruction guidance with a focus on basic skills development, resetting and taking back control in the game. Designed for pickleball TEACHERS wanting to progress to an INSTRUCTOR certification to teach at intermediate level.

    This course provides the instruction guidance with a focus on development of strategic aspects of the game, quick decision making, reactions, positioning and movement around the court. Designed for pickleball INSTRUCTORS wanting to progress to an INSTRUCTOR Plus certification to teach at advanced level.
