Introduction
The Asian Pickleball Academy (APA) was founded in March 2022 by PickleballJeff, an experienced national and international pickleball educator and trainer. (IPTPA Level 2, IFP Level 2, IFP pickleball Clinicion and IEPP Teacher Trainer)
APA's focus is on developing recreational pickleball in new communities and promoting pickleball tourism throughout Asia, provided by passionate national and international pickleball educators for players in the region.
PickleballJeff is now settled in Indonesia aiming to launch virtual pickleball educator courses soon to serve players in Asia.
Our Mission
We offer affordable pickleball training programs and skill clinics to support inclusive recreational pickleball communities in Asia. The goal is to make pickleball more accessible and fun for everyone.
Our Achievements lead to a focused future
In April 2019, PickleballJeff (PbJ) re-introduced the sport of pickleball to Indonesia. Shortly after his second visit there in November 2019 the Borneo Pickleball organization was established in January 2020. Since then, the game has experienced rapid growth across many parts of the country. In 2021-2022, the first 24 pickleball educators from Padang, East Kalimantan, and Bali successfully completed their training and became certified pickleball teachers in Indonesia. Shortly after, in February 2022, Borneo Pickleball split into two separate entities - the Asia Pickleball Academy (APA) and Indonesian Pickleball Community (IndoPiCo).

To date, they have introduced well over 2,000 individuals to pickleball through taster sessions, clinics, and courses. Given the geographic challenges in Asia, there is a clear need for more affordable pickleball educator training programs to support the rapid growth and development of the sport in the region.

As an independent entity, APA aims to connect with poeple interested to introduce pickleball in their community. Drawing on years of experience, we have adopted the IEPP/APA curriculum to create a student-centred program.
To date, we have already successfully certified 30 Indonesian nationals as IEPP/APA pickleball teachers.
Meet PickleballJeff (PbJ)
PickleballJeff, is an experienced international pickleball instructor with over 8 years of pickleball teaching expertise, he has medaled in several 4.0/4.5 50+ level international tournaments.

PbJ, an enthusiastic advocate for pickleball, is now expanding his efforts to grow the sport by supporting and starting up new pickleball communities in Jakarta or other Asian locations.
"Drawing on his background in pickleball instruction and management training, PbJ has created a teaching curriculum designed to introduce the sport to new players and guide beginners and intermediates toward advanced skill levels, using the IEPP platform."
What We Do
Our courses emphasize practical, hands-on training through on-court clinics and skill-building exercises, minimizing classroom time.
For course participants in Indonesia we have developed, bilingual learning materials to complement this experiential approach and to make courses more accessable for remote individuals, we are creating virtual modular learning opportunities, which form the foundation of our comprehensive curriculum.

We invite you to participate in our APA pickleball development courses, which are designed by PbJ for IEPP to support the growth and advancement of pickleball in your community.
International Pickleball Educator Crossover.
Join this crossover program as it's designed for international pickleball educators who plan to visit Asian countries to play or teach the sport. These educators aim to contribute their skills and knowledge to support the development of pickleball across Asia. It is important that the coaching content remains consistent to avoid confusion and the need for retraining.
Philipinnes Pickleball Federation

Since 2019, I have collaborated closely with the Philippine Pickleball Federation, most recently (august 2024) introducing pickleball at the Mariano Marcos State University in Ilocos Norte, working alongside Mike Johnson, the Federation's President.
